- What time shall we arrive?
-
Please aim to be at the studio for 10am, I do appreciate how difficult that is with a small baby so please don't stress if you are running late, if you could text me when you are leaving home so I can make sure the studio is nice and warm and that will give me a rough idea of your arrival time.
- How do we prepare our baby for the session?
-
If you are breast feeding please try to avoid caffeine and caffeinated drinks for atleast 72 hours prior to your session. Babies who are affected by caffeine tend to be very jumpy, tense and alert.
Please don’t apply any sudocreme, oils or nappy creams on the morning of the session as they can mark the blankets and are difficult to retouch out.
- What format will the session take?
-
I will take over as soon as you arrive, undressing your baby and getting him/her used to me. If you are exclusively breastfeeding, that is perfectly fine, we can take as many breaks as we need to keep your newborn peaceful.
There will be pee or poo accidents and I’m perfectly fine with that please don't worry! I begin with the baby photos and finish with family and sibling photos if these are requested.
- How long is a Newborn Session?
-
Sessions can take up to 3-4 hours even with a very sleepy baby; most parents take advantage of this little break and relax! Time passes very quickly and sessions are always relaxed.
Please try to avoid booking anything else on the day of the session. If you have any time constraints please do let me know when you arrive.
- What do I need to bring for my baby?
-
Please bring anything that's you'd normally take out with you for nappy changes. If you are bottle feeding please bring plenty of milk. If you are breast feeding a bottle of expressed milk sometimes helps, but ONLY if you are happy to do this.
I would ask that you please forget about your normal routines, if you have them, just for the duration of the session. It's important the babies remain topped up during the photoshoot; full bellies make sleepy babies and this makes for the best results. If you are bottle feeding I will help warm the bottles to your desired level to help maximise your babies comfort.
- What do we need to bring for ourselves?
-
Please do bring food, drink and snacks for yourselves.
If you are bringing older sibling , any entertainment for them as they can quickly get bored - I can give directions to the local play area if Dad needs to take siblings there.
Anything else you need to feel comfortable. Feel free to bring a book/ipad/entertainment for yourself – or just use the opportunity to have a nap!
