NEWBORN PHOTO SHOOTS IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME
How do home sessions differ from studio sessions?
With home sessions, you have the option of going for a posed shoot where the emphasis is on your newborn with a few family and sibling images included or more of a less posed look with lifestyle type images.
What is a lifestyle newborn session?
A Lifestyle home newborn shoot is less about the posed images of your newborn alone and more about your family as a whole. While there are more variables with this type of shoot, there are many more opportunities for unscripted tender moments and intimate poses. Images can feel more personal when you are in your own surroundings. The best age for these un-posed more organic type of images is when your baby is 1 to 3 weeks old. The older your baby the more awake images you’ll get. If you have older children and other family members who want to get in the picture this is a great opportunity for more candid images.
Ultimately there is no right or wrong decision, it’s simply a matter of personal preference. It’s up to you to determine what scenario will be best for your family.
"We wanted a subtle, natural shoot, which could be carried out easily and comfortably in our own home, so soon after the birth of our son. Sally offered exactly that. She was patient and gentle with Harry and worked around the rooms in our house to give us the natural shots we were after. We're so happy with the results and can't wait to get the photos. Thanks again Sally. Andy & Charlotte xx"
How far will you travel?
I will happily travel within a 100 mile radius of my studio in Braintree.
How much does it cost?
The session fee is the same price as my studio newborn sessions which is £100 and I charge £1.50 per mile. Additional charges will apply for central London locations.
Where in my home will you want to take images?
I generally shoot in the living room, nursery and master bedroom. I can move stuff around if needed. All I ask is that you make up your bed with plain white or cream bed linen as I often shoot in the master bedroom.
What should we wear?
For the whole family, my advice would be, keep it simple and neutral, avoid narrow stripes and large logos. Add a pop of colour with knitwear or accessories.
What should my baby wear?
A plain white baby grow and blanket for swaddling is all we need for your baby. For posed newborn images I will bring everything I need.
How long is a home session?
I allow up to 4 hours. This allows plenty of time and shoots are very much baby led. If your shoot over runs additional charges may apply.
